The Ministry of Self Government, as the operating structure of IPA Programme for cross-border cooperation between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Albania, in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of North Macedonia and the institutions supporting this cross-border programme held a workshop on 30 September, for the conducted SWOT analysis for the new programme for cross-border cooperation in the period of 2021-2027, in the frame of the Instrument for pre-accessible support (IPA III).

On this workshop, the national expert Ms Gligorovska presented the conducted SWOT analysis, the identified strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the regions of North Macedonia that fall into the programme for cross-border cooperation. From there regions, the experts received 21 surveys from the Municipalities, 6 from the central institutions, as well as 21 surveys from NGOs and other institutions.

It was determined that strength and an opportunity in most municipalities is tourism, cultural and natural heritage and the development of its offer, whereas as a weakness most surveyed sides determined that waste management was the most troubling. In regards to the five thematic clusters where the thematic priorities are placed, most visited Municipalities expressed willingness to work on Cluster 3, or “Improved public infrastructures/ connectivity (transport, digital, energy, waster, and water), as well as Cluster 4 or “Improved business environment and competitiveness”

The presentation was followed by a discussion by all present representatives about the findings of the analysis, as well as how much this data is significant for the success of the upcoming programme for cross-border cooperation for the period of 2021-2027.
