The regional public-private partnerships under the EU-project “Joint Efforts for 5% Less Waste” between Association for Entrepreneurship and Business LiNK (BiH), Municipalities of Jablanica (BiH), Municipalities of Savnik (Montenegro) and the Beekeepers Association Matica Pljevlja (Montenegro) was formally established on 29 October 2019 in Jablanica.
“The main objective of the project is to establish an integrated waste management system in 6 municipalities through inter-municipal and regional cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, which will increase the amount of recycled waste in this area by 5% by the end of 2021,” said Mr. Tomislav Majić, President of the Association LiNK Mostar that is coordinator of this project.
Talking about the importance of this project, Mr. Salem Dedic, Mayor of Jablanica expressed his gratitude to the Delegation of the European Union, which recognized the importance of this area and emphasized the importance of efficient waste management for healthy life and smooth functioning of the municipality, as well as the importance of raising awareness of young people.
Mr. Mijomir Vujačić, Mayor of Savnik Municipality emphasized the importance of capacity building, linking and exchanging good practices with partners from the region regarding waste management.
The Joint Efforts for 5% Less Waste project is funded by the European Union in the amount EUR 493,000 under the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro.
