Substantial environmental and health benefits in cross-border area

Overall objective: Enhancement of environment pollution in cross-border area

Specific objectives:
SO1. Small scale intervention on decreasing soil contamination through small scale intervention on dividing wastewater and atmospheric rainfall.
SO2. Managing atmospheric rainfall to prevent flood in cross-border area.
SO3. Introduction of good practices in area of wastewater/sewage system management and promote environmental impact in cross border areas.

Activities:
a. Designation of persons responsible for operation, control and maintenance of the proposed action; – in order to have successful implementation of the proposed action, both partners will entitle most experienced persons responsible for achieving proposed objectives
b. Preparing technical specification for intervention in the Gjilan/Gnjilane region on dividing wastewater and atmospheric rainfall – technical specifications are identified, the area where the intervention will take place, all stakeholders will be coordinated in order to prevent any delays and obstacles during the implementation of the proposed activity.
c. Preparing technical specification for intervention in the Kumanovo region on atmospheric rainfall – the intervention foresees preventing flooding in the area, therefore all institutions and businesses will be informed for the activity in order to be in total coordination for preventing possible difficulties during implementing activity.
d. Procurement procedures for work contracts and supply contracts for both public enterprises – Procurement procedures will be in line with PRAG rules.
e. Inspection procedures for controlling of wastewater and atmospheric damages in the areas – Both public utility companies will establish controlling system in managing of wastewater and atmospheric damages.
f. Cross-border meetings of experts from both Public Enterprises for sharing experiences and creating now monitoring methods – The new methods will be organized jointly by both partners where the expertise will be shared and during implementation of the proposed action, they will sign joint agreement for exchanging expertise.
g. Promotion of environment impact in cross border area. – the activity firstly will prepare promotion materials, where the main focus will be in rising awareness to population of cross-border areas with purpose to prevent future pollution of rivers and land and their contribution in healthcare through cooperation with the Public Enterprises.
