Project Description

Description	Overall objective: Enhance the capacity of the relevant municipal authorities for managing and decreasing the risks of environmental pollution and resulting soil and water contamination, human health hazards and contamination of agricultural produce Specific Objective: 1.New and/or improved public services related to the collection and treatment of waste water and solid waste management and disposal introduced 2. Improved institutional and administrative frameworks in the selected municipalities in the cross-border region to apply the EU gender-sensitive environment protection policies and standards 3. Shift of attitude of residents from the current hazardous practices towards environment protection sensitive behavior achieved. 4. Gender specific and/or sex-disaggregated indicators are systematically used in the design and implementation of the action and in the preparation of all required monitoring and evaluation reports.
Expected results	– Waste water collector constructed and connected to primary sewage Network (Gjorche Petrov) – Constructed plant for reception and treatment of waste water (Gjorche Petrov) – 1200 Waste disposal bins (capacity 120l) for individual households purchased and distributed (Novo Brdo/Novobërdë) – 108 containers for selection of communal waste (glass, paper and plastic) with the capacity of 240l, and 102 containers with the capacity of 1.1m³ purchased and distributed to individual households and public institutions– Novo Brdo/Novobërdë – Waste collection truck (capacity 7.5t) purchased and operational, Novo Brdo/Novobërdë. – Participatory involvement of the affected target groups in the decision-making process both in Novo Brdo/Novobërdë and Gjorche Petrov prior to the start and following the completion of the infrastructure and equipment related project activities – Three action plans of relevance for environment protection developed, adopted and published of which one joint with two separate chapters (Novo Brdo/Novobërdë and Gjorche Petrov) and two separate ones (Novo Brdo/Novobërdë only). – Participatory involvement of all affected target groups and all affected entities in the preparation of the action plans relevant for environment protection. – Public Awareness Campaign conducted – Joint Project Team established and operational – Joint Project Steering Committee established and operational – Gender-specific disaggregated quantitative and qualitative data are collected, analyzed, refined and amended on quarterly basis for the entire duration of the action. – Translation and interpretation in English and local languages provided as required for the action plans, participatory consultations and awareness raising campaign – Independent external evaluation of the action conducted”
