In Kladovo, at Fetislam Fortress, citizens had the opportunity to get detailed information about Romania–Serbia Cross-Border Cooperation Programmes as part of celebration of Interreg Cooperation Day while also enjoying numerous cultural and artistic events, such as free tours of the fortress, dances by Serbian and Romanian folklore groups, and a concert by the popular female band Pretty Loud.

The aim of these events, organised by the Ministry of European Integration and the Interreg IPA Programme Romania–Serbia, is to highlight the essence of Interreg cooperation and showcase the achievements of Romanian–Serbian projects funded through European Union cross-border cooperation programmes.

The recently restored Fetislam Fortress, revived with the support of EU funds, is a symbolic place for celebrating the close cooperation between Romania and Serbia.

Interreg Cooperation Day is celebrated every year around 21 September as part of the pan-European campaign coordinated by Interact. This year’s theme, “EU values that transcend borders,” invites us to reflect on the impact of borders and the progress made in removing obstacles to free travel, study, living, and working across Europe.
