Bulgaria – the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

IPA Cross-border Co-operation Programme between Bulgaria and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is a continuation of the previous Neighbourhood Programme 2004-2006.

Overall Objective of the Programme

The overall aim remains largely unchanged – sustainable development in the border region that supports wider European co-operation and integration efforts. This overall aim has been broken down into three specific objectives by the participating countries: to foster sustainable economic growth, to promote social cohesion and co-operation and to further develop the attractiveness and quality of people’s lives in the border region.

The overall objective will be implemented through 3 priorities:

 
Priority I Economic development and social cohesion
 
Priority II Improvement of the quality of life
 
Priority III Technical assistance
 

 

Programme Management

The Managing Authority for the Programme is Bulgarian Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, Territorial Co-operation Department.

Eligible area

The border area of Bulgaria comprises the districts of Blagoevgrad and Kyustendil.

The border area of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia comprises the North-East, the East and the South-East region.
