Programme Manager of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, Konstantinos Soupilas and Miljana Matović, representative of the Joint Technical Secretariat of the Programme, visited the “Vuk Karadžić” Library in Prijepolje on 20 November 2025. The visit was part of a field tour of projects funded through this Programme.

The Library successfully implemented the project “Culture for Europe, Europe for Culture” in partnership with the Public Institution “Ratkovićeve večeri poezije” from Bijelo Polje, Montenegro. The project focused on strengthening cooperation, preserving multiculturalism, and promoting cultural and traditional European values, contributing to long-term ties between the two neighbouring countries.

One of the project’s key results, recognized as highly sustainable, is the establishment of the Library’s Digital Library. This digital resource continues to grow even after the project’s completion, confirming the long-term value of EU investment.

The website Digitalna Biblioteka Prijepolje currently provides access to more than 2,262 digitized and readable items, significantly contributing to the preservation of local cultural heritage and ensuring its wide availability to users in Prijepolje and beyond.

Library Director, Kamala Kašić, highlighted the major importance of the project and the professional scanner procured through EU support, which has enhanced the Library’s work and enabled the continuation of digitization efforts. She also presented current activities and future plans of the institution.

The visit was also attended by Dino Bašović, Deputy President of the Municipality of Prijepolje, who expressed his gratitude to the EU Delegation for their continuous support and emphasized the importance of a project that continues to deliver valuable results for the local community.

This visit once again reaffirms that investment in culture, digital resources, and cross-border cooperation brings lasting benefits and contributes to the sustainable development of the community.
